EAU CLAIRE, WI - The wrestling season is still young, but the Spring Valley/Elmwood wrestling team is already making strides to show where they are going.

Last week the Cardinals competed at the Eau Claire North Husky Invite with 22 other teams. The Cardinals finished in 10th place in the tournament. Ellsworth won the tournament with 444 points, followed closely by Saint Croix Falls with 434 points. Medford was third with 359 points, followed by Baldwin-Woodville (308), Arrowhead (282), Nekoosa/Assumption/Port Edwards (276.5), Stanley-Boyd/Owen-Withee (253), New Richmond (246), SV/E (242), Wittenberg-Birmamwood (219), Eau Claire Memorial (215.5), Phillips (205.5), Cameron (180), Ladysmith (165), Auburndale (147), Prescott (143.5), Bloomer/Colfax (123), Eau Claire North (115), Pittsville (115), Cochrane-Fountain City (100), Superior (88), Whitehall (74) and Blair-Taylor (72).

The Cardinals were led by seniors Santana Schlegel and Kenny Fesenmaier. Schlegel earned a  third place finish at 152 pounds and Fesenmaier took third at 182 pounds.

Finishing in fourth place for SV/E were Nate Fesenmaier at 160 pounds and Travis Marty at 195 pounds.

Freshman Kaleb Casey finished fifth at 106 pounds, while 113 pounder Tristan Neisinger finished in seventh place. Paul Schwebach finished in eighth place at 220 pounds. Riley Merth and Nolan Stans finished in 13th place at 138 and 170 pounds each respectively.

SV/E wrestled at Clear Lake this past Tuesday in a dual match and will next wrestle at the Northern Badger on December 28th and 29th.
