SPRING VALLEY, WI – On Tuesday, April 30, Spring Valley Elementary School’s 4th and 5th graders took part in a Kindness Retreat® presented by Youth Frontiers, Inc. The retreat was held at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Lunch and snack were provided for the many volunteers by the SVE Parents’ Club.

Volunteers from the community as well as teachers served as small group leaders. The kids sang, danced, shared laughter and told stories. One activity to highlight anti-bullying strategies included throwing kindness boomerangs, which reminded students how kindness comes back in predictable and unpredictable ways to benefit others.

Youth Frontiers (YF) is a nonprofit organization that has been delivering retreats to schools since 1987. They provide schools with experiences that inspire character, civility and community so that our next generation of leaders is grounded in character. Last year, YF worked with nearly 124,000 students and educators throughout the country.

SVE students and staff are grateful for the school and community support for this Kindness retreat program, as it promotes unity and empathy for others. The event is sponsored with grants from SV Lions Club and SVE Parents' Club.
