BALDWIN, WI – Several teachers from the Ed Tech Team at Baldwin-Woodville Schools have become Google Certified Educators.  The Ed Tech Team is a group of teachers who meet monthly to learn new technology and digital teaching skills to use in their classrooms and share with their colleagues.

“The Ed Tech Team tries out new classroom technology before we introduce it to the rest of the teaching staff.  That way we can find out what works and what doesn’t before teachers try to use it and become frustrated when it doesn’t work.” explained Lisa Magnuson, Technology Director for the Baldwin-Woodville Schools.  The Ed Tech Team has 5-6 teachers from each school who also serve as coaches and someone to go to for teachers when they need immediate help or have a technology question.  Magnuson went on to say, “We are very fortunate to have a lot of great technology available in our school district and we want teachers and students to feel supported in using it.”

Several years ago, Baldwin-Woodville became a Google Suite for Education school district.  Adopting Google apps set the stage to become a 1:1 district with Chromebooks for students.  Becoming a Google Certified Educator provides a framework of basic skills teachers who can study to gain proficiency using digital documents, spreadsheets, calendars, websites, forms, and slides.

Passing the Google Educator Level 1 exam indicates that an educator is able to successfully implement G Suite for Education into their teaching practice in order to enhance teaching and learning. The Level 2 exam shows that a teacher is able to integrate a wider range of Google Apps and other technologies to transform teaching practice.
