SPRING VALLEY, WI - The Spring Valley/Elmwood wrestling team is wrapping up their regular season pretty quickly, but there is still plenty of opportunities for success like there was last week. The Cardinals topped Durand in a D-SC match up, then battled at the Whitetail Adrenaline Shootout in Menomonie.

SV/E 42, Durand 24
The Cardinals opened the dual match with a forfeit win at 113 pounds for Tristan Neisinger for a quick 6-0 lead. That lead evaporated quickly when there was a double-forfeit at 120 followed by a pair of forfeit wins for the Panthers at 126 and 132 to give Durand a 6-12 lead.

Brayden Wolf tied the match with a win by fall at 138 pounds in the first period, which was very quickly followed by another win by fall, this time by Riley Merth at 145 pounds in just 34 seconds to put the Cardinals up 18-12. Santana Schlegel won a 6-2 decision over Ceejay Schlosser at 152 pounds to make it 21-12.

Durands’ Ethan Weiss got a win by fall over Wyatt Wood at 160 pounds to cut the lead down to 21-18, but that was as close as it would get for the Panthers. Nolan Stans (170) won his match by fall and Travis Marty (182) won by forfeit. Kenny Fesenmaier won his 195 pound match by 8-3 decision to make it 36-18 before Matthew Kuznicki won by fall over SV/E’s Paul Schwebach at 220 pounds. Kaleb Casey rounded out the Cardinal win with a forfeit win at 106 for the final margin.

Whitetail Adrenaline Shootout
The Cardinals fared well in this match-style tournament. They opened with a 42-34 win over Eau Claire North.

The Cardinals got wins by fall from Nolan Stans (170), Kenny Fesenmaier (182), Paul Schwebach (220), Kaleb Casey (106), Riley Merth (145), and Santana Schlegel (152), as well as decision wins by Travis Marty (195) and Tristan Neisinger (113).

Baldwin-Woodville 51. SV/E 13
The Blackhawks dominated the Cardinals with just a few wins for the Cardinals.

Travis Marty won a 3-1 decision at 182, as did Riley Merth at 145. Santan Schlegel won a 6-3 decision at 152 pounds while Kaleb Casey won an 18-4 major decision at 106.

Menomonie 55, SV/E 21
Casey won by forfeit at 106 for the Cardinals while Tristan Neisinger won a decision at 113. Merth won by fall at 145, as did Schlegel at 152 pounds to round out the Cardinals scoring.

The Cardinals finish the regular season with their final D-SC dual with Mondovi, rescheduled from last Tuesday to this Tuesday, February 5, at Mondovi, and then prepare for WIAA D3 Regionals at Cadott on Saturday, February 9.
