BALDWIN, WI – St. Croix Central (SCC) - On Tuesday, May 7, the Blackhawks baseball team fell to SCC 5-2 in a conference matchup.  Alex Bishop battled on the mound giving up only 3 runs on 9 hits, 1 walk, and struck out 3, but got the loss.  Collin Bensen also pitched well in relief allowing 2 runs on 2 hits, 3 walks, and also struck out 3.  Our bats were quiet though as we were only able to scatter 5 hits.  Alex Bishop was 2-4 and scored both of the teams runs.

Somerset – Friday, May 10, the Blackhawks picked up another conference win by beating Somerset 9-1.  Collin Bensen pitched a really good complete game allowing only 1 run on 2 hits, walked 4 and struck out 9.  Our bats also came alive again as we had 16 hits.  Andrew Klopp, Robert Crowley, Zach Bishop, Sam Crowley, Bailey Skelton, and Collin Bensen all had multiple hits in the game.

Webster – Monday, May 13, we went to Webster and faced an undefeated team who has several Senior players signed to D1 colleges.  It didn’t go well on the scoreboard for us as we lost 16-2, but it’s good experience to see the level of play we need to strive for.  Errors in the field were a major reason for the lop-sided score.  Jacob Carlson started the game and took the loss.  He allowed 7 runs (3 earned) on 4 hits, 4 walks, and struck out 1.  Zach Bishop threw in relief and allowed 9 runs (8 earned) on 7 hits and 4 walks.  Batting we had 6 hits, with Bailey Skelton going 2-3 and Blaine Guthrie going 3-3.

Osceola – On Tuesday, May 14, we bounced back and beat a good Osceola team 5-2 at home.  Ben Schmoker pitched the complete game allowing 2 runs on 7 hits, no walks, and struck out 7.  At the plate we had 9 hits.  Alex Bishop was 2-4, Zach Bishop 2-3 with 3 RBI’s, and Sam Crowley was 2-3 with 1 RBI.

Ellsworth – Thursday, May 16, we did not play well at all in any aspect of the game and let Ellsworth beat us 12-2 in another conference matchup. Zach Bishop started on the mound and took the loss by giving up 5 runs on 5 hits, 3 walks, and struck out 2.  Collen Bensen allowed 6 runs on 3 hits, 3 walks, and struck out 1 and Bailey Skelton finished the game allowing 1 run on 4 hits and struck out 1.  Our bats were very quiet again.  Our top hitters were Alex Bishop and Zach Bishop each with 2 hits and Blaine Guthrie hit his first career Varsity homerun which drove in the 2 we scored.

The Blackhawks are currently tied for 3rd in the conference with a chance to finish in 2nd place with a win against Prescott this coming Monday, May 20.

Thursday, May 23, starts playoffs as the Blackhawks will take on Menomonie at Wakonda Park in Menomonie at 5pm.  Be sure and check out the Baldwin-Woodville High School website for the all of the Athletic Schedules (middleborderconference.org/public/genie/91/school/2/) and go cheer on our Blackhawks!
