BALDWIN, WI – Two more teams fell to the Spear of the winning B-W boys soccer team during two rounds of a 2018-playoff games series last week.

The Regional Championship and comprehensive 5 - 0 victory against Unity saw the Blackhawks winning the Regional Championship and progressing into a sectional face off with Rice Lake.

The WIAA post season bracket match-up had B-W hosting Spooner at Mill Pond Park on Thursday, October 18, 2018. The home team dominated the match and the contest ended in the 77th minute after a 10 goals advantage to the hosts. Jacek Nickowski scored 6 goals and recorded 3 assists; Vance wicker scored 2 and assisted on one; Nate Vrchota put in two headers and assisted on one goal; other assists came from Wyatt Bennis and Gavin Sippel.

The Unity/St. Croix Falls regional final opponent fell short at Mill Pond East field. Five goals were the least the B-W Spear could have scored. Jacek and Vance shared the scoring tally with 3 and 2 respectively. Vance added two assists with Nate and Walker Langer collecting one each.

The post-game celebration was fantastic. The Regional Championship trophy was presented to the winning home team by B-W Athletic Director Jason Sell. This accomplishment matches the best ever record for the Baldwin-Woodville Boys Varsity Soccer team.

This post season run leads to a much-anticipated meeting with the Rice Lake Warriors today, Thursday the 25th of October at Mill Pond East at 4:00 pm.

The B-W coaches cannot be prouder of this outstanding group of student athletes on this team. Our goal was set prior to the first kick of this season. We repeated as Champs of the Middle Border Conference (MBC). Not an easy feat. Now we are all out for the most important game in the history of this program. Boys are ready. Confidence is very strong. Coaches are preparing a game plan for warriors who took 3rd place in regular season of the Big Rivers Conference. “We have some unfinished business to settle with this opponent.”

Many B-W players were recognized by MBC coaches for All Conference honors this post season.

Jacek Nickowski and Vance Wicker were voted to the 1st All Conference team. Nate Vrchota, Dane Adams and Wyatt Bennis received 2nd team recognition. Ben Peterson took home honorable mention. Alek Gerrits was voted second best goalkeeper in the MBC.

Jacek Nickowski was given the award for best player of the MBC for the second year in the row.

“This season has been special. The ‘One for all and all for one’ attitude carried this team to a beautiful place. Nothing is being taken for granted. We will carry the Baldwin-Woodville fighting Spear as far as we can.”

Come and cheer loudly this Thursday. Our boys need you!!! GO HAWKS!!!
