Ruth Barrington, age 87, died Friday, October 19, 2018 at the Roseville Care Center in Roseville, California at 5:00 am with her daughter Gail Mauss at her side. She was a well-loved resident there since 2012. 

Ruth Anne Davis was born October 7, 1931 in Rochester, Minnesota to Kenneth and Harriett Davis. She was the second of five daughters born to her parents. Her early childhood was spent in Spring Valley, Wisconsin and Lake City, Minnesota. The Davis family made a permanent move back to Spring Valley in 1944.

Ruth graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1949. She earned a B.S. degree in elementary education from UW-River Falls in 1954. She had a long career in education, teaching mostly 4th and 5th graders from Alaska, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Arizona, and California. Even after her retirement she continued as a substitute teacher.

During her married years she raised 5 children. Ruth had a love for travel and adventure. She would often take her children in the summer on road tips across country ending up in Wisconsin to visit family. She loved to read and history trivia was her expertise. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She had many church friends from her different locations during her years in different states. She attended a Davis family reunion in September 2001 organized by her sister Susan Hanson in Truro, Massachusetts. Ruth was willing to help others often giving of her time and energy.

Ruth is survived by her daughter Gail Mauss, California-grandson Jason (Jessica) Bailey, Cole & Lindsay from Arizona. Granddaughter Dianna Liu (Jay) & Vinyl from Utah. Her son Thomas Barrington (Gemma) Alan, Nathan & Austin from Florida. Son-in-law Dan Moss, Kyle of Minnesota. James Barrington of Arizona. Daughter-in-law Samantha Atkinson,(Bill) Anthony (Maria) Barrington, Penelope, Isabell of San Diego, CA. Rebecca Barrington of Chicago, IL. Nicholas (Polly) Barrington, Scarlet of Georgia and Florida.

Ruth is also survived by her sisters Eleanor Malmo of Onalaska, WI.  Susan Hanson of Spring Valley, WI and Jane Culbert of Colfax, WI.

Preceding Ruth in death were her daughter Caroline Moss, and Sister Helen Sandve.

Funeral service was Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Keehr Funeral Home, Spring Valley with visitation from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. prior to the service.  Burial was in St John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Spring Valley.
