TOWN OF BALDWIN, WI – On Saturday February 2, 2019, at 12:20 a.m., the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office responded to a one-vehicle crash on USH 12 at Bridge Ave, in the Town of Baldwin.

A 2002 Ford F250 truck, driven by Scott A. Gossel, age 36 from Wilson, WI was eastbound on USH 12. Preliminary investigation indicates the truck entered the south ditch, went over Bridge Ave. and struck a stop sign and power pole. The truck came to rest against the power pole. 

Gossel was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Croix County Medical Examiner.

Gossel was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Alcohol is a possible factor in the cause of the crash.  

Assisting at the scene were United Fire & Rescue, Baldwin EMS, and Woodville, Baldwin, & Hammond Police Departments. 

This is the 1st fatality of 2019.

The crash remains under investigation by the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office and Medical Examiner’s Office.
