RHINELANDER, WI – The Wisconsin Department of Transportation will lift weight restrictions on portions of WIS 65 in Polk and St. Croix Counties on May 6, 2019. Single axle vehicles may have a gross load of over 6 tons and that tandem axle vehicles may have a gross load of over 10 tons while travelling the highways listed below. The maximum gross weight limit of 24 tons will also be removed.

• WIS 65, St Croix County, junction with County Highway H in Star Prairie to St Croix/Polk County line.

• WIS 65, Polk County, St. Croix/Polk County line to WIS 8.

Seasonal weight restrictions are placed on specific highways during the spring thaw period. The restrictions are added to routes that have poor foundations, with the goal of preventing pavement damage from legal-weight loads. The posting and removal of weight limits may be delayed as conditions require and are determined at the discretion of the State Highway Engineer.
