SPRING VALLEY, WI – The Spring Valley Area Fire Department held their 5th Annual Chili Feed on Saturday, November 10, which was well attended at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Spring Valley. This event is centered upon two things: raising money to help support the purchasing of safety equipment and more importantly bringing the community together for a great night of food with much fun for all ages.

Besides the amazing food, people enjoyed the 50/50 raffle, gun raffle and the ever-competitive silent auction. The kids even had their own area to color, play and do other fun things to keep them occupied. There were five roasters full of tasty chili: one chicken, one venison and three of beef with all the fixings, beverages and desserts all for a free will donation. No one went away hungry!

This event was created to gain interaction between the fire department and the community, which by the growing number of people that attend each year has proven to be a success. Not only does the Spring Valley Area community come to show support, but neighboring community members and emergency services personnel show up as well. United Fire & Rescue, Elmwood Fire and Ellsworth Fire are just a few of the neighboring departments that were among some of the attendees. We are all brothers and sisters in times of either financial or emergency need who support one another whenever we can. We believe this is what strengthens us as people and brings our neighboring areas closer to one another.

The Spring Valley Area Fire Department does have room for more members. A class to become Firefighter I State Certified starts in January 2019. If you would like to join our service, please contact us. We would be glad to make you part of our team/family.

In closing, we want to thank everyone who attended our event and a special thank you to those who had donated their time and donations in making this event everything that it is. If it wasn’t for all of you, we wouldn’t be able to put on such an amazing event. We can’t wait to see everyone again next year!

Sincerely, the Spring Valley Area Fire Department.
