ELLSWORTH, WI – The Pierce County Treasurer, Kathy Fuchs, announced today that May 13 through May 17 is Lottery Credit Awareness Week in Pierce County. The Treasurer’s Office staff works hard to ensure that eligible property owners in our County are receiving this valuable credit on their property tax bill each year.  The goal of this awareness campaign is to inform our citizens of this credit, to help them identify if they are eligible for the credit, and to help them complete the necessary steps to have this credit applied to their real estate tax bills.

It’s Lottery Credit Awareness Week in Pierce County!

The Pierce County Treasurer’s office, in conjunction with the Wisconsin County Treasurer’s Association and supported by the Wisconsin Department of Revenue, has designated the week of May 13 through 17, 2019, as Lottery and Gaming Credit Awareness Week.

The Lottery and Gaming Credit is a reduction on your real estate tax bill.  The exact amount of the credit is based upon the school district in which your home is located, and it varies from year to year.  Pierce County residents received an average credit of approximately $190 last year.

Wisconsin residents are eligible for the Lottery and Gaming credit if they are the owner of a home and use the home as their primary residence on January 1 of the year in which property taxes are levied.  A person may claim only one primary residence.  Business property, rental units, land, garages or other properties that are not a primary residence are not eligible for this credit.

Kathy Fuchs, County Treasurer, is recommending that all eligible property owners review their 2018 real estate tax bill to verify they received the lottery credit.  If you can’t find your 2018 bill, please visit the Treasurer’s page on the Pierce County website at  The Treasurer’s Page has a link to Lottery Credit information in the blue banner on the right side of the page.  There are instructions on this Lottery Credit link to help you find your bill online.

If your property meets the eligibility requirements, and you did not receive the credit on your 2018 property tax bill, you can complete the Lottery and Gaming Credit application online at  The completed and signed Form LC-100 should be mailed to the Pierce County Treasurer’s Office, PO Box 87, Ellsworth, WI 54011.  You may also obtain an application by contacting the County Treasurer’s office at 715-273-3531 extension 6424.  The office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

If you own your home and use it as your primary residence for at least six months each year, check your bill for the credit or contact the Pierce County Treasurer’s Office for more information.  Don’t miss out on the opportunity to save money on your annual real estate tax bill.
