ELMWOOD, WI – The Elmwood Food Pantry shelves are full after recent generous donations of food and toys from the students and staff at Elmwood Schools, grades 4K-12 who shared the “Spirit of Giving.”

On November 12, Elmwood Student Council members delivered 456 pounds of groceries that had been collected by grades 4K through 12 during their annual food drive.  There is a competition based on the number of items donated, and this year's prizewinners were the students in 4K with a total of 126 items!

Another delivery by Elmwood students brought 109 more pounds of groceries to the pantry, AND $200 in cash for grocery purchases.  The members of the Elmwood FCCLA (Family Community and Career Leaders of America) collected the groceries and money and delivered it on November 20.

Then on December 7, two Elmwood students, Taylin DeLong and Amber Bartz, along with their science teacher Kristel Flesberg, delivered a HUGE selection of toys to be given to food pantry patrons.

The toys are suitable for a wide range of ages.  Many of them were donated by Elmwood School families. Others were purchased by the students with a total of $600 in cash donations from local businesses and Elmwood students and parents.  Christmas will be merrier for the children of pantry parents, thanks to all for this generosity!

There have been MANY other recent gifts to the pantry.  Among them are: a $1000 grant from COVIA – Santrol Foundation; $500 from National Mutual Benefit; and continued financial support from Mark Anderson and his employees at Mark Anderson and Associates and Genesis Industries, Inc.  Donations from other businesses, churches, organizations, and individuals are so very much appreciated, AND, believe it or not, Donald Hofacker of Cottage Grove, Minnesota, donated more than a TON of groceries again this year!!!  A very big thank you to all of you.

The Elmwood Food Pantry is located at 108 S Main St in Elmwood and serves more than 40 families each month.  Hours are the first Tuesday of the month from 3 to 6 p.m. And from 9 a.m. To 1 p.m. on the third Tuesday of the month.  Anyone needing food on an emergency basis can call the food pantry at 715-639-2307, or 715-639-4221.  If you need to leave a message, be sure to give us a WORKING phone number so we can call you back.

The first Tuesday of the month in 2019 is New Year's Day, so we will NOT be open then, but WILL be open on Wednesday, January 2nd.
