PLUM CITY, WI – Meredith Cherry and her horse, 10-year-old Peruvian Paso Mustang, Apollo, were in the Plum City, Wisconsin area recently.  They are planning to travel all 48 States to bring awareness to domestic violence.

Meredith and Apollo came into the Bay City area and spent the night at the Randy and Lori Larson farm outside of Plum City.  Friends gathered to meet them and hear about Meredith’s journey.

The pair started out from Grass Valley, California, over a year ago.  Meredith tells of living in an abusive relationship for over 12 years, and her chance to escape.  She notes that domestic violence is one of those things that people avoid talking about and do not wish to share the negatives experiences.  After living in an isolated area with no close neighbors or relatives nearby, and then finally getting a chance to escape, she decided to make this journey to share with others.

Cherry and Apollo travel about 15 miles per day, following Google maps, and networking with others to plan when and where to travel and where to stay overnight and shelter and feed Apollo.  Over the winter she will board Apollo and fly home, and then start again in the spring.

Meredith notes, “She would not be in her 21st state without all the good people” who have stepped up to help out.

People can follow her journey on Facebook and Twitter sites.  Check out centauride.org for updates on the ride for domestic violence.
