WOODVILLE, WI – The Woodville Lions Club finalized plans and are nearly ready for the 68th Woodville Syttende Mai Celebration with the finishing details discussed at length at their April monthly meeting.

The meeting was held at the Lion’s Den on Monday night, April 8 with President J.R. Dachel calling the meeting to order and leading the Pledge of Allegiance. The Table Prayer was said. The four 2019-20 Syttende Mai Royalty Candidates were introduced.

As part of the meeting the ladies stood and reintroduced themselves and gave their brief bios. They are: Contestant #1 Lauren Thompson whose sponsor is Action Labs, Contestant #2 Victoria Butler her sponsor is C & J Liquidators. Contestant #3 is Ivy Fuchsteiner and her sponsor is the Wildwood Bar and Restaurant. Contestant #4 is Olivia Dumond with Lakes Coffee as her sponsor. The Lions welcomed the young ladies and thanked them for coming to the meeting.

The Woodville Women’s Club served a fantastic meal of homemade lasagna with garlic bread, salad and brownie with vanilla ice cream for dessert. The Lions gave the ladies a hearty round of applause for the delicious dinner!

The meeting followed the published agenda with announcements by Lion Jim. The reports by Treasurer Lion Steve Perry and Secretary Lion Wickboldt were given and approved.

New business was a recap of the District meeting with the recognition of the Woodville Lions receipt of the Centennial Service Challenge Award. The Club was the only one in the district to have completed all of the requirements for the award. Each club member received a pin honoring this achievement.

A date of Saturday, April 27 was set for the volunteer Road Clean-up on the Lions portion of Highway 12.

The August Softball Tournament was discussed with the desire to continue this fun summer fund raiser. President Dachel will explore this further and report back to the club.

For Old Business the Election of Officers was discussed and set for installation at the Lions Den on June 10. Next was the Syttende Mai updates with several details discussed and confirmed.

The final item on the agenda for the meeting was the appointment of the Scholarship Committee to review the numerous applications for the two $500 awards the Lions will be making to graduating Baldwin-Woodville High School seniors.

The meeting was adjourned with this reminder to the community, “Get ready for another great Woodville Syttende Mai Celebration May 16 – 18 with fun for the whole family!”
