SPRING VALLEY, WI – The Spring Valley Public Library is excited to announce two exciting adult programs happening in August!

The first is a visit from Hudson author Shelley Tougas. Ms. Tougas writes juvenile fiction and won the Wisconsin Literacy Council Award for Children’s Literature for her most recent publication titled “Laura Ingalls Wilder is Ruining My Life.” Laura Ingalls Wilder and her family represent model pioneers in our culture-- people who conquered the west, broke the land and built America. But there’s more to the story. Author Shelley Tougas discovered Laura's life was much different than the idealized and nostalgic childhood Wilder penned on paper. Tougas will present her research at the Spring Valley Public Library on Monday, August 20 at 6:00 p.m. in a presentation called “Everything Laura Ingalls Left Out of Her Novels.”

The second adult program is a special visit from mystery writer David Housewright who has won an Edgar Award from the Mystery Writers of America as well as three Minnesota Book Awards. Author of the popular Mac McKenzie series, David Housewright will be at the Spring Valley Public Library on Monday, August 27 at 6:00 p.m. to discuss his books with those interested.
