HUDSON, WI – Here is a listing of free events in January at the Willow River & Kinnickinnic State Parks:

Fun with Feathers! - Saturday, January 5, 2019 from 10-11AM at Willow River Nature Center.
Feathers perform a number of functions for a bird! They provide insulation, allow for flight and control what a bird looks like. Come and learn all about feathers and have fun feeling different types of local bird feathers as well as creating your own feathery art craft! Event is FREE to attend but vehicle admission into the park is required. Please call 715-386-9340 or email naturalist@willowkinnifriends.org for more information. Winter Scavenger Hunt! - Saturday, January 19 from 1-2pm. Meet at Willow River Nature Center.
Avoid getting cooped up inside and join us at the park for a winter-based scavenger hunt. Search for items on a checklist outside in the winter wonderland, then come back to the Nature Center and warm up with some hot chocolate. Small prizes will be available for participants! Learn to Snowshoe! - Sunday, January 20 from 1-3:30pm at Kinnickinnic State Park. Meet at the Maintenance Building.
Get outdoors this winter and join us for this fun and free event! The Friends Group will be providing snowshoes and basic instruction on how to snowshoe followed by a selection of short, guided snowshoe hikes. You will then have an opportunity to explore the park's snowshoe trails on your own. Snacks and refreshments will be provided. Children accompanied by adults are welcome. Have you snowshoed before? You are also welcome to register and join in the fun at this event. To register and reserve snowshoes to use at no charge, go to tinyurl.com/snowshoe2019 Click the checkbox in the "Sign Up" box to choose an event and then click "Submit and Sign Up" at the bottom of the page to reach the registration page.
