SPRING VALLEY, WI – The regular season for the Spring Valley volleyball team comes to a close and while they have been playing some games really well, they are struggling to find another win in conference play.

The Cardinals lost to Elk Mound and Plum City in some tough games. Valley is 9-14 overall and just 1-5 in conference play on the season. They finished the regular season with a game this past Tuesday at Elmwood and Thursday the home finale against Durand.

Elk Mound 3, Spring Valley 0
The Cardinals took the 5-1 Mounders to the limit in the first two games of this match, falling by scores of 24-26, 24-26 and 11-25.

Sophomore Alyxis Johansen led the Cardinal attack with eight kills in 30 attacks and fellow sophomore Mataya Kado added six more kills.

Junior Camryn Wegner had 16 assists in the game while senior Gabby Stevens had 23 digs defensively as well as two aces from the service line. Maddie Matthys had 11 digs defensively as well.

Valley did struggle with errors though. As a team they had 19 kills, but they also had 15 attack errors in 104 attacks on the night.

The Cardinals struggled to stop the Elk Mound attack as Morgan Radtke had 12 kills in 30 attacks. Elk Mound had 35 kills as a team and 21 errors in 110 attacks.

Plum City 3, Spring Valley 1
The Cardinal attack seemed to be a little more on in this match as they had 30 kills as a team with 17 errors on 122 total attacks as a team.

The Cardinals still lost by scores of 16-25, 19-25, 25-11, and 14-25.

Johansen again led the Cardinal attack with 12 kills and Wegner had 24 assists to go with all those kills.

Senior Rachel Fesenmaier led the service department with three aces from the line. The team had nine aces on the game.

Five Cardinal players had double-digits in digs on the game, with Wegner and Fesenmaier leading the way with 13 each. Stevens, Matthys and Johansen had 11 digs each as well.
