AMERY, WI - The Cardinal volleyball team keeps plugging away through injury after injury and continues hitting each game hard, a testament to Head Coach Geoff Snyder.

The Cardinals fell to Colfax in conference play last week, falling to 1-3 in the conference and 9-12 overall after a long day of play here last Saturday.

Colfax 3, SV 1 - The Cardinals got some solid play in the four-game match won by Colfax. Valley showed quite a bit of spunk as they pushed the Vikings to the limits in their match, losing 25-9, 25-21, 23-25 and 25-21.

Alyxis Johansen led the Cardinal attack with 14 kills in 49 attacks. Camryn Wegner added 24 assists. Defensively, the Cardinals had double-digit blocks from Rachel Fesenmaier (18), Gabby Stevens (17) and Wegner (15). Johansen also had five blocks in the game.

Kameri Meredith had 15 kills for the Vikings, while Jozie Buchanan had 24 assists.

Amery Invite - The Cardinals played well at the tournament, though they lost three matches to Prescott, Siren and Hayward, they beat Chetek-Weyerhaeuser twice in the tournament.

“I thought we got some good play, but it was a long day too,” Snyder said.

The Cardinals have just two weeks of the regular season left. Their last week of the regular season starts on the road at Elmwood on Tuesday and finishes at home against Durand on Thursday. Their post-season matchup for the WIAA tournament hasn’t been released yet.
