ELMWOOD, WI -- A final teaching opportunity coasted in for Elmwood Elementary students before the end of the year to remind youngsters of their responsibilities for riding bicycles safely.

With assistance from Deputy Jean Spletstoser, veteran officer of the Pierce County Sheriff's Department, students learned of the need to use hand signals; being aware of those around you; and the importance in being seen.

Along with these valuable lessons, Allina Health Clinic from River Falls presented and fitted free bicycle helmets for youngsters.  Also, the Village of Elmwood pedaled in four bicycles, which were given away in a student drawing.  Elmwood's PTO contributed two bike lights that also shifted to youngsters in the drawing.

Good job everyone, enjoy safe riding this summer!
