BALDWIN, WI – These are the reported results from the last three matches for the Baldwin-Woodville High School girls’ golf team beginning with the New Richmond 9 Hole MBC match on Thursday, August 31, 2017. The team results for the 8 teams that were in that match are: New Richmond 190, Amery 204, SCC 210, Ellsworth 212, BW 217, Somerset 222, Osceola 224 and Prescott 235.

Not the best of days for the Blackhawks - we played the Links course which has a lot of tall grass surrounding most holes.  It was played as a lateral hazard, and we had plenty of shots end up in the grass!  Overall, the team finished in 5th in conference.  We did have a good individual round by Emily McNamara with a 48, which tied for 3rd on the day with her teammate Hope Tiffany and a few other players.  Both earned 8 conference points on the day.  Medalist was Ashley Swiggium from New Richmond with a 41.

These are the individual scores and observations for the B-W Hawks: Hope Tiffany 48 - Hope had a tough start with triple bogey, and then had a few double bogies early in her round which hurt her score.  She battled back late in the round with a few pars.

Emily McNamara 48 - Emily had a good day, and played well enough to keep her round in the high 40's.  This is her first in the 40's this year, and her 2nd lowest round of her career.  She has been getting better, and in this match was able to be consistent with a lot of bogies.  She stayed away from the trouble and hit some good shots.

Lindsay Burr 56 - Lindsay had one really tough hole, which cost her round overall.  She has been playing pretty good, but with one bad hole her score was up.  She ended her day with a par!

Ashley Burr 65 - Again Ashley had a few too many shots in the hazard areas, but kept battling and played better golf towards the end of her round.  She will be back into the 50's and continue to get closer to a high 40 round this season.

Roza Emmert 69 - Roza had a couple of tough holes early and in the middle of her round.  She too had a few too many hazard shots, and was in the long grass, which was tough to hit out of.  She has been playing better than her round today.

On Wednesday, September 6 we traveled to Prescott at Clifton Highlands. Here are the 8 team results: Somerset 201, Ellsworth 202, Amery 206, Baldwin-Woodville 207, New Richmond 210, Osceola 215, SCC 216 and Prescott 228.

Team observations – This was our best round for 9-holes this year, so we appear to be heading in the right direction.  The season is over halfway through; we continue to get better as a group.

Individually for B-W - Lindsay Burr 48 - A good round put in by Lindsay.  She played well in this match, kept the ball in play, and was good with her iron play.  Lindsay earned 7 conference points.  This is her first round in the 40's this season.  She is in the top 12 for the season with conference points.

Emily McNamara 50 - Emily played really well on this day, her score could have easily been in the low 40's.  She had one hole or bunker, which caused a lot of extra shots.  She had 3 pars on her round.  Emily earned 5 conference points.  She is now in the top 12 for the season.

Hope Tiffany 52 – It was a struggle for Hope in the match at Prescott, tough time around the greens with chipping/putting.  She had too many triples/doubles on her score-card.  She lost out getting only 3 conference points.

Ashley Burr 57 - A solid round for Ashley.  A couple of holes hurt her score; she was going for a low 50 round.  She has been hitting better off the tee, and her iron play is improving too.

Tessa Van Someren 66 - Tessa played well early in her round, but struggled off the tee and with irons late.  She is improving on her short game and hopes to get in the 50's soon.

The last match in this report is from Thursday, September 7 - @ SCC - Pheasant Hills. This was not our match, but still on our home course!  That helps!  We tied SCC for 3rd today with a 206.  The teams are getting closer, looks like a lot of players are improving.  New Richmond with a healthy team is still the dominant team in MBC.

These are the team results: New Richmond 184, Ellsworth 201, BW 206, SCC 206, Amery 209, Osceola 216, Prescott 216, Somerset 219, Colfax 212 and SC Falls 233.

Individually for B-W - Hope Tiffany 47 - Good enough for a tie for 3rd with many players, Hope earned 8 conference points which gets her back closer to the top 5 after having a tough day at Clifton Highlands.  She was pretty solid, but still made a couple too many double bogies.  I keep waiting for that low 40 round from Hope, which she can shoot.  Hope has a good swing and is still figuring out her new irons, which she hits a little farther but lower.

Emily McNamara 50 - Emily has been playing much better, and had one tough hole in this match.  She has the game back to where she can shoot the middle to low 40 score.  All facets of her game have been getting better, which is nice to see!  She earned 5 conference points, which gets her closer to the top 10.

Lezlie Weyer 54 - Lezlie had her best round to this point of the season.  She has a lot of 6's on her score-card which means she kept her ball in play and was near the greens after a couple shots.  She hit the golf ball better and is gaining more confidence each time out.  She earned 2 conference points today.

Lindsay Burr 55 - Lindsay had a tough start and the early stretch of holes where she went into the hazards and was in the long grass too much.  Later in her round she played much better and ended the day with a birdie on hole 1.

Roza Emmert 56 - A good round for Roza, which ties her low for the season.  She was consistent and kept her ball in play.  She did have a couple hazard shots, which cost her score a little.  She has been improving steadily all season.
