BALDWIN, WI -- It has been a while since we have written a Band Beats article. It isn’t that it has been a slow winter! It has been a very busy one. In mid-November, Winter Drumline began practicing for this year’s show Allegiant. Practice is most Saturday’s from 10am-6pm and Monday’s from 6-9pm. In December, the concert band and choir performed their annual Holiday Concert. There have been many students also involved in Honors Band, Solo & Ensemble, Pep Band, and Jazz Band.
Winter Drumline had their first competition in February and have been competing since then. They would like to invite you to their Send Off Show at B-W High School on Friday, April 7, 2017 at 8pm. They travel to Rochester April 8 for the Minnesota Percussion Association (MPA) Finals. This is a great chance to see the show and get pictures with your favorite Drumline member. Let’s fill the gym and show our support.
Winter Drumline also has a couple of fundraisers coming up. Wednesday, April 12 from 5-8pm is Dine at Culver’s. Funds raised this night go towards their trip to Dayton, OH. On April 18 they will travel to Winter Guard International (WGI) World Finals. Baldwin-Woodville is one of 65 groups competing in Scholastic Marching A. WGI Sport of the Arts is the world's premier organization producing indoor color guard, percussion, and winds competitions. As a non-profit youth organization, WGI also serves as the governing body for the indoor color guard, percussion, and winds activities. It is called the Sport of the Arts because it brings music to life through performance in a competitive format. Now entering its 40th year in 2017, the sport continues to evolve and grow. There were more than 36,000 participants at the regional level, and more than 12,000 participants at the Sport of the Arts World Championships this past April.
Please consider coming to Culver’s to support these dedicated students.
The other fundraiser for Winter Drumline that is currently being held until April 17 is a Coffee and Tea Fundraiser through Giving Bean. If you like coffee and would like to support them, please contact Adam Bassak at email@example.com.
There are many other chances for you to see what is going on too. Sunday, April 30 students that have advanced to State Solo & Ensemble will be performing at Songs for State beginning at 7pm in the High School Auditorium. The spring band & choir concert will be held on Monday, May 8 at 7:00pm.
Are you considering purchasing a new bed? Well Baldwin-Woodville Bands can help you with that. On Saturday, May 13 from 10am-6pm at the High School is the 2nd Annual Mattress Fundraiser. The funds raised from this will be put towards new marching uniforms. Come buy Mom a new bed for Mother’s Day!
Band Boosters has been extremely busy this winter too. They hosted a booth at Doe on the Go, three concession stands at the Middle School, and a concession stand for Destination Imagination. Coming up in April and May they will host 5 concession stands for the home track meets. Band Boosters will also be hosting an Evening of Jazz on Saturday, May 6 at 6pm at Zion Lutheran Church. This is a chance for the two Jazz Bands and our NEW Jazz Choir to perform what they have worked on all winter. If you are interested in tickets, please contact Marla Butler at 715-379-6238 or any of your favorite band members.
If you are interested in helping BWHS Band and Band Boosters with their many activities, please email firstname.lastname@example.org to find out how you can get involved.
