Eileen Helgeson, age 81, went to be with Jesus on June 5, 2010 surrounded by her loving family in her home in rural Woodville, WI.

Eileen was born on August 23, 1928 on the Luckwaldt family farm north of Woodville to Reinhold (RJ) and Minnie Luckwaldt. She was baptized on Sept 23, 1928 in Baldwin and confirmed on 3-29-1942 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Woodville, WI. After attending Birchdale country school for 7 years she attended Woodville High School graduating in 1946. She also graduated from Rogers and Benner Cosmetology School in Minneapolis.
Eileen married Alton Helgeson on June 27, 1947 at Immanuel Lutheran. To this union 4 children were born Judy, David, Joan and Dale. Alton and Eileen had a dairy farm between Baldwin and Woodville for 24 years. In 1970 they built a new home one quarter mile from their farm and sold all but 40 acres of the farm. Alton started Helgeson Equipment, Inc where he sold DeLaval and Silo-Matic equipment.
Eileen baby sat for Angela (Ron) Siler and Paula (Rob) Johnson, daughters of Dave and Karen Niccum for many years. Angela and Paula were Eileen's other daughters. Over the years she took accounting and bookkeeping classes. Eileen worked as a secretary/bookkeeper for Harvey Hielkema for 4-5 years and was a secretary/bookkeeper for Richard Griffin at his State Farm office for 18 years.
Eileen was a long time member of Zion Lutheran Church in Woodville. Over the years she was a Sunday school teacher and superintendent, Ladies Aid officer and Circle Leader, helped make quilts, helped to computerize the accounting and bookkeeping system, and was part of the bell choir.
In 2009 Eileen joined Christ the King Lutheran Church, where she was the secretary for the church women, sent cards to the missionaries and their families and currently was attending four Bible studies.
The most important part of Eileen's life was her faith in God and her family. She loved gardening, travel, sewing, knitting and other crafts. Her strong faith and witness to God has been a blessing to all who have known her.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband Alton (in 1991), brother Richard Luckwaldt, sisters-in-law JoAnn Luckwaldt and Lucille Helgeson, and brothers-in-law Clifford and Lloyd Helgeson.
Eileen leaves behind her children: Judy (Jerry) Johnson of Woodville, David (Suzie) Helgeson of Baldwin, Joan Johnson of Dubuque, Iowa, Dale (Gail) Helgeson of Baldwin; 9 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter Kira Sotos; sister Bernice King of Minneapolis, brothers Lloyd (Jeanette) Luckwaldt and Marvin (Angie) Luckwaldt both of Woodville; sister-in-law Betty Helgeson of Woodville; brothers-in-law George Helgeson and Howard (Virginia) Helgeson both of Woodville; aunt Dorothy Albrightson of Woodville; also Angela Siler and Paula Johnson, special girls in the Eileen's life, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon, June 9, 2010 from 3 to 8 p.m. at Christ the King Lutheran Church, Wilson, WI with funeral services Thursday June 10, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Christ the King Lutheran, Pastor Les Johnson officiating. Music was provided by organist Mrs. Nola Johnson. Soloist will be Pastor Paul Pillman with additional songs by the Pillman family and congregational singing. Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery, Woodville. Honorary bearers were Eileen's grandchildren: Sabrina Beberman, Tim Helgeson, Shawn Johnson, Tracy Sotos, Christina Johnson, Beth Helgeson, Nicholas Johnson, Kayla Helgeson and Mark Helgeson.
Keehr Funeral Home, Spring Valley handled arrangements.
