WOODVILLE, WI – On Saturday, October 28 we spent all day in Anoka for their Annual Halloween Grande Parade and Halloween Celebration. Anoka is the “Halloween Capital of the World.”

Anoka, Minnesota is believed to be the first city in the United States to put on a Halloween celebration to divert its youngsters from Halloween pranks. When Anokans awoke to find their cows roaming Main Street, their windows soaped and their outhouses tipped over, they decided something had to be done. Anoka Halloween celebrations have been held every year since 1920 with the exception of 1942 and 1943 when the festivities were cancelled because of World War II.

Your Woodville Syttende Mai Royalty dressed up for the Anoka Halloween Celebration as the emotions: characters from the movie “Inside Out.” With Princesses Faith Smith as Anger, Emily Olsem as Disgust, Isabel Vance as Fear, Lillie Smith as Sadness, and Queen Alexa Rimer as Joy. Everyone loved our costumes and knew exactly who we were.

That day we enjoyed donuts at Han's, went through the parade, talked with the Anoka candidates at the post parade, and enjoyed watching the new Anoka Ambassadors get crowned. Congratulations to the new 2018 Anoka Royal Ambassadors. We hope you girls have a fantastic year!

Sincerely your 2017-2018 Syttende Mai Court Princesses Faith Smith, Emily Olsem, Isabel Vance, Lillie Smith, and Queen Alexa Rimer.
