This year's parade in particular was a really great event that featured 116 fun units for viewing by the thousands of folks that lined the multi-block streets winding through this normally quite little town on the banks of the beautiful Rush River in Pierce County, Wisconsin.
The 26th Annual El Paso Days Parade capped several days of activities for El Paso Days that included everything from the 9th Annual El Paso Community Club Crisis Fund Golf Tournament, a Euchre Tournament, a pony pull, community breakfast, tractor cade, the second annual Shine and Show Car Show, and the "Great Walk for Life" Cancer Walk. They also had horseshoe and bean bag tournaments, horse pulls, children's games, Bingo, and the third annual Cow Race. There was also some special music by the "Over 50s Band", the "Skipping Stones", and "Barstool Cowboys". On Sunday morning there was also the annual Ecumenical worship service and after another Grand Parade they had more music by the "25 to 10" band and they even had greased pig contests behind Adolph's Famous Log Cabin Bar for the kids.
The Grand Parade began nearly on schedule at 2 p.m., but not before the Elmwood Fire Department had to break out of line and run to a call. They then returned in time be in the parade. This year's El Paso Days Parade was led by the Color and Honor Guard of the Ellsworth American Legion and the national anthem was sung by the very talented Riley Bowman of Spring Valley and for the next hour, unit after fun unit entertained the gathered visitors to El Paso and concluded with "The Kids of the 50s of El Paso" float carrying those famous characters from El Paso golden days. What a Grand Parade and 26th El Paso Days it was! Congratulations El Paso. You did it up big again!
