ELMWOOD, WI – Elmwood Early Learning Center (ELC) opened its doors on Friday September 1, 2017, welcoming children ages 6 weeks to 4 years of age. In just over two weeks, crews transformed the former computer lab into a warm and welcoming childcare center. Three smaller learning spaces divide the room to separate the three different age groups: infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. In addition, a small child sized bathroom and office/utility room are found within the walls of the center.

Weekly tuition charges are as follows: $160 for infants and $150 after the age of two. For families needing care for more than one child, a 10% discount will be applied for each additional sibling.

ELC is also proud to accept payment through Wisconsin Shares, a childcare subsidy program providing free or reduced tuition.

Ashley Zierl, a familiar face within the community, has taken lead as part-time ELC director while continuing her other district duties as Reading Specialist and Title 1 Coordinator. While working at the YMCA Child Care Center in Hudson, Ashley received her elementary education and early childhood degree from UW-River Falls in 2010. Since being hired by the Elmwood School District, she has taught 4K, kindergarten, 2nd and 3rd grade SAGE and Title 1 after completing her masters of Reading the winter of 2016. Now entering her eighth year, Ashley is eager to bring success to such a needed program to the community, she and her family now call home.

Allison Hinrichs joins the ELC staff as the lead preschool teacher. Allison received her elementary education and early childhood degree in 2015 from Winona State University. Prior to graduation, she began working at WSU Children’s Center; then she moved back home to Durand working for two local centers. Allison is eager to meet the families and become a part of the Elmwood community.

Kelsey Leach, a 2011 Elmwood graduate, returns to her hometown as the lead infant and toddler teacher. Kelsey is currently finishing her degree in Human Development and Family Studies with a concentration in Early Childhood Education at UW-Stout. She has a year and a half experience as lead teacher as well as various other responsibilities in childcare since first starting in 2012. Kelsey is excited to be back in town and be a part of such an important program.

Also joining the Elmwood Early Learning Center staff are assistant teachers Alaina de Werd, Debbie Helmer, Leslie Sailer, and Lindsay Hinzman.

Elmwood Early Learning Center is committed to nurturing each child’s social, emotional, and physical growth through developmentally appropriate activities and programs.
