ELMWOOD, WI – It is the Lenten season once again and of course there is the dedication to the religious aspect of that for the faithful, but there is also the added bonus of having the opportunity to enjoy a good Friday Night Fish Fry. It is time to leave the cooking and dishes to someone else and get out and have a good meal with the family and friends.

  • Elmwood Board foils deer, considers Sailer’s expansion

    ELMWOOD, WI – Three Elmwood High School students got a chance to practice their public speaking skills as they made a request to the Elmwood Village Board at the March 13 monthly meeting.

  • ELMWOOD, WI – The February 13 Elmwood Village Board proceedings started with a public hearing on a request by Scott and Stacy Anderson for a dog kennel license.

    The Andersons, who live on a 1.5-acre lot at 112 W. Partridge Ave., have two dogs now but had three when they moved to Elmwood about a year ago The third died shortly after that move.

    Speaking about the problem at the public hearing they had requested, Scott said the couple currently has an elderly Saint Bernard and a younger, much smaller English Bulldog.  They would like to get another English Bulldog.

There was a good turnout to visit with Santa considering how harsh the weather was with over six inches of snow overnight and some cold temperatures hovering around zero and that’s without wind-chill factored in.

    TOWN OF ROCK ELM, WI – The Rock Elm Old Settlers held their 128th in 130 years on Thursday, November 3. The meeting was held in the cozy basement of the Rock Elm Methodist Church, where the meeting has been held since 1905 or '06. There was plenty of visiting and everyone seemed to be enjoying the day for the country gathering.

  • Veterans honored with American flag pinning at Heritage of Elmwood

    ELMWOOD, WI – In observance of Veterans Day, 4 veterans (3 senior veterans and one veteran staff member) were honored at Heritage of Elmwood on Friday, November 11. Bryan Bessa, veteran Marine Corps Sergeant and Human Resources Director at Grace Lutheran Homes (parent company of Heritage), honored veterans with a special American flag lapel pin while wearing his uniform.

  • Annual Elmwood budget is sign of times

    ELMWOOD, WI – Elmwood Village Board members approved a 2017 annual village budget of over half a million dollars at their regular monthly meeting Monday evening, November 14. Spending is up more than $6,000 over last year, but Board President Bill Stewart says he is happy with that.
