  • ST. PAUL, MN — The best gifts can’t be bought in a store. The American Red Cross urges eligible donors to give more life by giving blood this December.

    In December, donations decline but the needs of patients remain steady. During the holiday season, set aside an hour to give the most important gift – give blood and give more life. To encourage donations, all those who come to give blood or platelets Dec. 21, 2017, through Jan. 7, 2018, will receive a long-sleeved Red Cross T-shirt, while supplies last.

  • TOWN OF BALDWIN, WI – The monthly meeting of the Botany Belles & Beaus Garden Club will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2017, at the Baldwin Town Hall. 

  • WESTERN WI – WESTconsin Credit Union offices are collecting non-perishable food products and cash donations for families in need from December 11-16.

    Items can be dropped off at any WESTconsin location including Altoona, Amery, Baldwin, Barron, Chippewa Falls, Eau Claire, Ellsworth, Hudson, Menomonie (North, Downtown and East), New Richmond, Prescott, River Falls and Spring Valley. All proceeds will be delivered by the credit union to local food pantries for distribution.

  • NEW RICHMOND, WI – After we turned back the clocks on November 5th and temperatures continue to fall, St. Croix County Public Health wants to remind residents to take action to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning.

    “As colder weather arrives, we start seeing more carbon monoxide poisonings,” said Ed Thurman, Environmental Health Specialist. “Now is the time for St. Croix County residents to make sure their heating sources and carbon monoxide detectors are in good working order.”

  • RIVER FALLS, WI – St Croix Valley Master Gardeners will learn to incorporate nature and natural materials into Christmas and other holiday displays at the Thursday, November 16, meeting.  Lola Higgins, an avid naturalist and instructor at Garden Divas in River Falls, will demonstrate indoor and outdoor holiday décor using natural materials.  She’ll discuss how to pre-plan your garden, and calendar, to harvest materials for displays from early October to after Christmas.

  • GLENWOOD CITY, WI – West CAP is celebrating its 26th year hosting the Holiday Gift Program for local families in the Glenwood City, Boyceville, and Spring Valley School Districts. The program is open to low-income households with children ages birth to 18 years. Last year we were able to serve just under 200 children.

    BALDWIN, WI – The Tuesday Community Supper is served the first Tuesday of every month at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 1350 Florence Street, Baldwin, Wisconsin, 54002. 

  • MENOMONIE, WI – This holiday season, WESTconsin Credit Union (WCU) will host The Mitten Tree campaign—a Kindness Counts initiative. Each office will display The Mitten Tree—a tree in its lobby decorated with donated mittens, gloves, hats, scarfs and more.

    The purpose of The Mitten Tree is to collect cold weather apparel and accessories for those in need as the winter season’s sub-zero temperatures set in. Last year, the credit union collected 2,250 items and $2,747.46 in support of this cause.

  • NEW RICHMOND, WI -- The election for the next governor of Wisconsin is up and running and many of the candidates, likely to be our next governor are coming to St Croix County.

  • NEW RICHMOND, WI — On Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 2 p.m. the community is invited to First Presbyterian Church at 1901 Vine Street in Hudson, to take a walk in the shoes of someone with dementia through the use of the internationally known Virtual Dementia Tour. The Virtual Dementia Tour is a 10 minute sensory experience that gives those with full cognition the ability to understand what the disease of dementia sounds, looks and feels like. 

  • GLENWOOD CITY, WI – Our annual meeting and program will be held at the Glenwood City Community Center at 217 W. Oak St. on Sunday afternoon October 29, 2017, beginning at 2:00 p.m. The program will feature speaker Wesley Franklin. Wesley is a Glenwood City native and attends UW-River Falls. He is passionate about history, founding a Student History Club while in high school and he also serves as Vice President of the Glenwood Historical Society.
