  • SPRING VALLEY, WI – Emmaus Church in Spring Valley will be hosting a simulcast site for the Parent’s Summit – a one-day conference on Saturday, February 24. The conference works to equip and encourage parents as they deal with the real demands of parenting in the 21st century. This year’s key speaker is author Lysa TerKeurst, as well as speakers Josh Straub, Ron Deal, Natasha Crain and Pat Quinn.

  • SPRING VALLEY, WI -- The Empty Bowls Project is an international effort to raise money and awareness in the fight to end hunger. The project started 25 years ago and has spread worldwide. Spring Valley Schools joined the project during the 2014/2015 school year and now we host our own Empty Bowls event.

    Filling Empty Bowls will be held on March 13, 2018 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Spring Valley Middle-High School at S1450 County Road C, Spring Valley, WI 54767.

  • ST. PAUL, MN — The best gifts can’t be bought in a store. The American Red Cross urges eligible donors to give more life by giving blood this December.

    In December, donations decline but the needs of patients remain steady. During the holiday season, set aside an hour to give the most important gift – give blood and give more life. To encourage donations, all those who come to give blood or platelets Dec. 21, 2017, through Jan. 7, 2018, will receive a long-sleeved Red Cross T-shirt, while supplies last.

  • WESTERN WI – WESTconsin Credit Union offices are collecting non-perishable food products and cash donations for families in need from December 11-16.

    Items can be dropped off at any WESTconsin location including Altoona, Amery, Baldwin, Barron, Chippewa Falls, Eau Claire, Ellsworth, Hudson, Menomonie (North, Downtown and East), New Richmond, Prescott, River Falls and Spring Valley. All proceeds will be delivered by the credit union to local food pantries for distribution.

  • MENOMONIE, WI – This holiday season, WESTconsin Credit Union (WCU) will host The Mitten Tree campaign—a Kindness Counts initiative. Each office will display The Mitten Tree—a tree in its lobby decorated with donated mittens, gloves, hats, scarfs and more.

    The purpose of The Mitten Tree is to collect cold weather apparel and accessories for those in need as the winter season’s sub-zero temperatures set in. Last year, the credit union collected 2,250 items and $2,747.46 in support of this cause.

  • SPRING VALLEY, WI – The 11th Annual Spring Valley Trick-Or-Treating For Canned Goods will have students (some may be in costume) will be going door to door collecting food pantry items on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 in the Village of Spring Valley, to benefit the Spring Valley Food Pantry.

    We will begin collecting items at 5:30 pm on Halloween evening.

    ST. PAUL, MN – Feel good, do good and look good this September by donating blood or platelets with the American Red Cross and get a free haircut coupon from Sport Clips Haircuts. Blood and platelet donors of all blood types, especially type O negative and O positive, are urgently needed to replenish the blood supply following a critical summer blood shortage.

  • RIVER FALLS, WI – Starting on October 3, 2017, Pierce County will have its first social day respite center—Among Friends--for individuals over 60 with memory loss or physical frailties and those with early onset dementia. The center will offer services on Tuesdays, 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Additional days will be added as the program develops.

  • PRESCOTT, WI -- The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is conducting a public involvement meeting to discuss planned improvements to the St. Croix River bridge, located along US 10 between Prescott, Wisconsin and Hastings, Minnesota.

    The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday August 22, 2017 from 5 to 6 p.m., at Prescott City Hall, 800 Borner St N, Prescott, WI. The meeting will follow an open house format. The objective of the meeting is to obtain the public’s feedback regarding proposed improvements and traffic management.

  • ELLSWORTH, WI – Farm Service Agency (FSA), disaster loans are available to Farmers in Dunn, Pepin, Pierce and St. Croix Counties who have suffered qualifying physical losses based upon damages and losses caused by tornado that occurred on July 28, 2017.

    Actual loss loans for physical damages to property destroyed or damaged will be based upon the allowable cost associated with repairing or replacing the property destroyed or damaged. Also, the damaged or destroyed property must be essential to the continuation of the operation.
