St. Croix Valley Genealogical Society will meet Thursday, February 16, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. in the main floor meeting room of the River Falls Public Library. Join us for a rebroadcast of a Wisconsin State Genealogical Society webinar – How to Start Researching Your Irish Ancestry.

Presenter Donna Moughty describes steps you need to take to be successful, types of records available, websites, and reference books. Even if you are an experienced Irish genealogist, you are likely to pick up some good tips, and if you have no Irish ancestry, you are likely to pick up some tips that carry across to other research areas.

The Woodville Senior Center (WSC) will be hosting their annual fundraiser at Culver’s of Baldwin on Tuesday, October 24, 2017. Visit Culver’s between 4:30-7:30 p.m., and Culvers will donate a percentage of their sales to the Senior Center. The mission of the Woodville Senior Center is to offer and to fund programs and services which promote the physical, emotional, social and economic well-being of older adults and to encourage their participation in all aspects of community life. The Center is located at 102 S. Main Street and is open Monday to Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Hot, nutritious, home cooked meals are served at noon for a suggested donation of just $4.00 for Seniors 60+. If interested in dining with us, please call one day in advance for a meal reservation at 715-698-2152. Thank you in advance for supporting the Woodville Senior Center by visiting Culvers on Tuesday, October 24 at 640 Plaza Drive, Baldwin, WI 54002. Enjoy a delicious meal and benefit a great cause.

Project SEARCH is an internship program for individuals with disabilities 18-24 years old who are interested in gaining workplace skills. Please join us for an Open House program aimed at providing families, professionals, and future interns information about our program. The St Croix Valley Master Gardener Association Thursday, October 26 meeting will hear several recipients of the grants awarded by Master Gardeners in May. A total of $4,482 in grants was given to 19 projects in nine areas in Pierce and St Croix Counties. The projects include gardens at schools, nursing homes, fairs and municipalities. Seven were for Youth Education programs. A U W-Extension program, Master Gardeners’ role includes public education efforts, part of which is represented by the grant funds distributed to community group. Funds are raised by the June Octagon House Plant Sale and the March Garden U Spring Seminar. Grant applications are open to non-profit groups and are available at the beginning of the year. The meeting will be at the First Covenant Church, 1374 N Main St, River Falls starting at 6:45 p.m. The public is invited.
