The St. Croix Valley Collectors Association will host its Annual Threshing Bee on Sunday August 20, 2017 at the Norm and Shirley Feyereisen Farm, 429 Townsvalley Road in Hudson, Wisconsin. The farm is located just south of Hudson off County F, then east on Coulee Trail to Townsvalley Rd. The day will feature a variety of old time farm equipment in operation. Activities start at 10 a.m., with a noon break for a “threshing day” dinner of roast pork, sweet corn and side dishes, topped off with root beers floats featuring ice cream made on-site. Other activities include a pedal pull for kids and adults starting at 1:00 p.m., a silent auction, and a 2 p.m. parade of antique tractors preceded by the annual crowning of a King and Queen. The popular “slow tractor race” and the tractor basketball competition will follow the parade. The Threshing Bee is open to the public and admission is free. The American Red Cross urges blood donors to give in the final weeks of summer to help overcome a chronic summer blood shortage. In August, regular donors may delay giving as final summer vacations are planned and back-to-school activities ramp up. To fully meet the needs of hospital patients in the coming days and weeks, donations are urgently needed from new and current donors. Those who donated blood earlier this summer may be eligible to donate again. Blood can be safely donated every 56 days, and Power Red cells can be donated every 112 days. As a special thank you, those who come out to give blood or platelets with the Red Cross now through Aug. 31 will be emailed a $5 Target eGiftCard™.* Appointments can be scheduled by downloading the free Red Cross Blood Donor App, visiting or calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767). To help reduce wait times, donors are encouraged to make appointments and complete the RapidPass online health history questionnaire at How to help - Simply download the American Red Cross Blood Donor App, visit or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) to make an appointment or for more information. All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age in most states (16 with parental consent where allowed by state law), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements. Pierce County St. Croix River Bridge Public Meeting at 5:00 PM on 8/22/2017
Start Time: 8/22/2017 5:00:00 PM
End Time: 8/22/2017 6:00:00 PM
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is conducting a public involvement meeting to discuss planned improvements to the St. Croix River bridge, located along US 10 between Prescott, WI and Hastings, MN. The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday August 22, 2017 from 5 to 6 p.m., at Prescott City Hall, 800 Borner St N, Prescott, WI. The meeting will follow an open house format. The objective of the meeting is to obtain the public’s feedback regarding proposed improvements and traffic management. The bridge is 26 years old. It is exhibiting structural deficiencies that need to be addressed to reduce maintenance costs and maximize the state’s long-term investment in this important river crossing. Proposed improvements include concrete surface repair, a polymer overlay, and some painting. Work is currently scheduled to begin in 2018. WisDOT plans to keep the bridge open during construction. Any operations that will impact river navigation will be completed outside of navigation season (April through October). Adjacent property owners and all interested persons are encouraged to attend the meeting. Citizens who are deaf or hard of hearing and require an interpreter may request one by contacting Matt Pfeifer at least three working days prior to the meeting via the Wisconsin Telecommunications Relay System (711).
